Description
The Tuff Stuff Alpine 61 is Tuff Stuff's ultimate aluminum hard shell roof top tent, built to handle the elements for true four-season camping. Its dual-action opening roof lets you choose between a quick wedge setup or a full pop-up with extra headroom and windows, and one person can deploy it in about a minute.
Dual-Action Roof: Wedge or Pop-Up
Unlatch the rear and the roof rises into a wedge on its own, ready for a quick night. Unlatch the front as well and it lifts into a full pop-up with additional screened windows. Four German-engineered gas struts do the heavy lifting, and packing down is just as fast.
Blackout Fabric, Built for Every Season
The tent is made from a 3200 GSM poly/cotton rip-stop fabric with high tear resistance and tensile strength, a waterproof rating above 3500 mm, and an EPA-certified antibacterial, mold-inhibiting treatment. A blackout coating on all tent materials lets you switch from a full-screen room with 360-degree views to a completely dark room for sleeping in.
A Platform for Your Whole Setup
A roof rack on top of the shell carries kayaks, bikes and gear, while four T-slot rails around the exterior (standard M8 hardware) let you mount awnings, shower tents or water storage directly to the tent. Closed, it sits at a slim 8" (excluding the roof rack).

FAQ
Will this tent fit my vehicle?
Roof top tents are not vehicle-specific. Check with your vehicle manufacturer for the dynamic weight capacity of your roof rack or cross bars, and make sure it is at least the weight of the tent. Most overland truck bed racks are designed to carry a roof top tent.
What kind of rack or cross bars do I need?
The tent mounts on two cross bars (never directly on the roof). Cross bars should be at least 30" apart and no more than 60" apart. The included brackets fit cross bars up to 3.25" wide.
What's the difference between dynamic and static weight load?
The dynamic weight load is what your rack can carry while driving, and it must cover the weight of the tent. The static load (when parked) is much higher, which is why the tent can hold you and your gear at camp.
How do I open the tent?
Release the 2 rear latches and push up on the handles: the roof rises into a wedge on its own. For the full pop-up, release the 2 front latches and push up again.
Can it be mounted on a pickup truck bed?
Yes, with a truck bed tent rack. Tuff Stuff offers universal bed racks that mount to the sides of the bed with pinch plates.
What should I do before camping in rain or snow?
Before your first wet trip, set up the tent, spray it with water and let it dry completely. The canvas swells slightly and seals the stitching holes. You only need to do this once.
How do I clean the tent?
Brush or vacuum out dirt, clean the fabric with warm water and a mild detergent using a soft brush, rinse well, and let it dry fully in the sun with all windows open before closing it.
How do I care for the zippers?
Zippers are exposed to sand, mud and weather. Rubbing a little beeswax along them keeps them running smoothly and greatly extends their life.
